ToA Raids Release We're happy to finally debut the release of ToA! With our flagship semi-custom twist, this raid type introduces a fusion of the invocation system and our custom affliction system. It also introduces unique custom upgrades to the traditional gear rewards, offering a better fit for the server's existing metas. Invocations & Raid Level For ToA, your "raid level" is determined by: The invocations you choose for the raid Raid difficulty (+25/+50/+75/+100 for adept/expert/master/grandmaster) Raid afflictions (+20 for each affliction) Invocations can also be selected and saved as presets, which each player has 5 slots for The following invocations are currently available for TOA: Supply Chain: Supply bundle is not given for the raid Overlay Draining: All special attacks consume 100% special energy Deadly Prayers: Prayer is smited by 20% of damage taken Dehydration: Prevents drinking any potions that restore hitpoints On a diet: Prevents consuming food of any kind Overclocked [..]: Each boss has an overclock invocation, adding or buffing its mechanics Insanity: Requires all overclock invocations enabled, and increases the Warden's final phase difficulty Your party's raid level will also determine what reward tables are unlocked: ToA Afflictions This raid type does have a unique exception with afflictions, having the Piercing affliction disabled for ToA exclusively. Based on the feedback from our testers, it was too overwhelming in conjunction with high level raids (e.g 4A 600+ GM) ToA Boss Mechanics Our semi-custom version of this raid involves similar but slightly altered & simplified versions of the fights. In addition, we've not included things like puzzle rooms. We prefer for a more fast-paced and straight-to-action style! Akkha Mechanics For his standard attack, akkha will switch between three different forms (indicated by his color, and overhead) Melee attack form (normal color, protects against range & melee) Range attack form (green color, protects against range & magic) Magic attack form (blue color, protects against magic & melee) At 80% and 40% HP thresholds, he will summon clones at different arena quadrants While the clones are active, Akkha can not be dealt damage directly The amount of clones spawned is dependent on the HP threshold, party size, and the overclock invocation Clones will target players with ranged attacks, and can be attacked with any style Attacking clones based on color (white = melee / green = range / purple = magic) will reflect some damage to Akkha despite his invulnerability (unless he has reached the min-capped HP for his next phase) At 60% HP, Akkha will fade out and party members will be required to memorize the order of the tile symbols at the center of the arena. Once four tiles are counted, the arena will begin to apply AoE damage to all quadrants except for the tiles that were indicated. This attack also occurs again at 5% HP if the Overclocked Akkha invocation is enabled At 20% HP unstable orbs will begin to spawn and roam around the entire arena for the remainder of the fight Players who collide with them will take typeless damage The amount of orbs that spawn scales up with the raid's difficulty level (adept, expert, master, grandmaster) The Overclocked Akkha invocation will also guarantee a small number (5) of unstable orbs to be in the arena during the entire fight (the count for these do not scale by raid difficulty) Zebak Mechanics The standard attack for Zebak involves a projectile being shot to the center of the arena. Ranged attack: Boulder chunk that breaks into fragments Magic attack: Jug that breaks into red orbs With the Overclocked Zebak invocation enabled, his attacks are 1 tick faster At 80% HP and 50% HP, zebak will shoot poison across the entire arena, forming venom splat tiles in the arena. Standing on these tiles will deliver damage very tick With the Overclock Zebak invocation his poison attack includes more tiles, and standing on them will also disable your active prayers NOTE: The water jug mechanic is not included (nor is it necessary) on our version of this fight After the poison attack at 80% HP, Zebak will summon boulders at a random location in the arena A few seconds afterward, a shockwave attack is sent throughout the entire arena The only safe location for this attack is behind the aforementioned boulders At 35% and 20% HP, Zebak will summon tidal waves from a random side (east or west) of the arena There will only be 2 tiles among the row of waves that will be safe When the Overclock Zebak invocation is enabled, this attack will also activate at 60% HP Kephri Mechanics Her standard attack involves a vorkath-style meteor strike that will impact a 3x3 tile grid of its original target tile. With the Overclocked Kephri invocation enabled, her meteor attack is 1 tick faster. At 75% HP and 50% HP, she will enter an invulnerable incubation stage and fire eggs at random locations around the arena If the eggs are not destroyed in time, they will hatch into scarabs which will deal typeless damage At 75% HP her eggs hatch Small scarabs and at 50% they will hatch Large scarabs (greater HP and damage) When the Overclocked Kephri invocation is enabled, she will also incubate large scarab eggs at 25% HP (and her eggs hatch 25% faster) When Kephri is at 25% HP or below, her standard attack will switch to a Dung meteor instead of the aforementioned fire meteor A dung meteor is sent to the tile of up to 5 players in the arena, and a few will also be sent to random tiles in the arena Once they land, they will leave a pile of shit at that tile -- which stuns players it lands on (and leaves a clipped tile for the remainder of the fight) Ba-Ba Mechanics Ba-ba's standard main attack is simply a melee strike When the Overclocked ba-ba invocation is enabled, all her attacks are 1-tick faster At random periods (or if no players are in melee distance) she will send her Rock fall attack, sending boulders from the sky A boulder will target each player, to which players must step away from or be dealt very high damage 1-2 boulders will land at random arena spots, which will result in a rock spawning in its place If there is already at least 1-2+ boulder in the arena, she will send her Rock throw attack instead In order to avoid damage from this attack, players must stand next to a boulder If done correctly, the boulder will take the damage instead of the player(s) When the Overclocked ba-ba invocation is enabled, her rock throw projectile travels faster (giving you less time to reach a boulder) At random points in the fight, she will summon Baboons in the arena They deal typeless damage, so you're better off killing them quickly to avoid chip damage! One baboon is spawned for each player in the party (up to 5) When the Overclocked ba-ba invocation is enabled, she will always spawn +2 extra baboons as well At 66.6% and 33.3% HP, she will commence her Rolling stones special attack All players are forced / knocked back to the other end of the arena Ba-ba will begin to throw rows of rolling stones from the other side of the arena Each row has only one "cracked" boulder which can be one-hit destroyed with ranged weapons Reaching ba-ba and attacking her with melee will force her to end the special attack Warden Mechanics On our version of ToA, Warden only has two phases (rather than three) The first phase of the fight starts with his awakening, which will always occur on the western side of the arena Warden (Phase 1) Warden starts with a full protection to melee & ranged, requiring you to primarily use magic for the beginning of this fight. His standard attacks are: Magic projectiles (electric skull projectile) Range projectiles (metal projectile) With the Overclocked Warden invocation enabled, his attacks are 1 tick faster His special attacks are: Divine projectile: Disables your prayers and sends a typed projectile (red scimitar = melee / white arrow = ranged / blue spell = magic) Imprisonment: Sends out a tile-based projectile that will stun players on impact if they don't move to a different tile Warden's Obelisk Attacks In midst of the warden fight, the obelisk in the center of the room will also commence its own attacks simultaneously. These attacks rotate in a cycle, between three different attacks Lightning skulls: Skull projectiles shoot out of the obelisk, creating a 7x7 grid of lightning on tile impact. There is a set of safe tiles within the cardinal directions of its 2x2 inner grid (seen below in the GIF example) Windmill: Dangerous tiles rotating in a clockwise direction around the arena Converging beams: Dangerous tiles slowly converge toward the center obelisk, coming from each direction of the room Core Ejection Once you deal enough damage to Warden's "yellow bar" to charge it fully, warden will eject a core that players must attack. Your max hit is guaranteed against the core, and a multiplier of damage is sent to Warden's true HP (green bar) which is displayed during this phase Players can continue attacking the core until a timer is reached. If Warden's true HP does not reach 0 he will go back to his charge (yellow bar) phase. He will also rotate his protection prayers from Melee & Range to Melee & Magic (or vice versa) when returning to his charge phase. Once players manage to fully eliminate his true HP bar from attacking the core, the party will be sent to Warden's final phase. Warden (Final Phase) During this phase, warden will raise/slam the ground tiles of the arena, alternating between the right/left/center of the arena When the Insanity invocation is enabled, this attack is 2 ticks faster NOTE: This GIF demonstrates the attack with the Insanity invocation enabled Energy Siphons At 80/60/40/20% HP, he will create an amount of Energy siphons in the arena. Players must attack the siphon skulls with melee in order to "turn" them before the siphon timer ends The siphon skulls can be 1-tick attacked (ignores combat timers / delays) Once the siphon timer ends, damage will be distributed between Warden and the player If you manage to turn all of the skulls, warden takes all the damage If you manage to turn some of the skulls, warden takes some of the damage & your party takes some damage too NOTE: There is a different pattern / layout for the siphons in solo parties as opposed to grouped parties Phantom Bosses Warden also summons phantoms during the fight: At 60% HP, Warden will summon a Zebak Phantom which will send Zebak's range/magic attacks At 40% HP, Warden will summon a Ba-Ba Phantom which will send Baba's rock fall attack (must avoid the tile) When the Insanity invocation is enabled, both of these phantoms attack 1 tick faster Enraged Phase Once he reaches 5% HP, he will heal back up to roughly 20% HP and enter Enrage phase Tiles will begin to rip away from the arena, row by row Red lightning will start to spawn at random arena tiles, dealing damage if players are on the tile once the lightning strikes When the Insanity invocation is enabled, tiles rip faster and the red lightning strikes faster NOTE: This GIF demonstrates the enrage phase with the Insanity invocation enabled ToA Rewards Keris Partisan & Upgrades The Keris partisan is available as a purple reward at any raid level It has a passive effect that deals +45% damage against beetles, scarabs, kalphites. Vespula is included as well! The following jewels can also be obtained to upgrade the partisan to stronger variants: Breach of scarab (Keris partisan of breaching) Buffs the default keris partisan passive from +45% to +75% damage Eye of the corruptor (Keris partisan of corruptor) Additional effect: Hits have a 10% chance to inflict bleed against any PvM opponent Jewel of the sun (Keris partisan of the sun) Additional effect: Heals you for 1/8 damage dealt to any PvM opponent (15 tick cooldown) Tuneken's Spear This spear can be obtained by combing all three variants of the keris partisan with the Rage of Tumeken via enchantment chest The Rage of Tumeken is an ingredient obtained via 4+ Afflictions reward table with Level 500+ raids Lightbearer Ring Purple rare reward at level 200+ raids Acts as a ring of vigour Restores special attack by 5% every minute Increases special attack damage by +5% in PvM combat Osmumten's Fang Purple rare reward obtainable at level 200+ raids Rolls twice for accuracy if first hit is blocked Guarantees damage between 15% and 85% of your true max hit Osmumten's Fang (or) The upgrade ingredient, Cursed phalanx, is a red rare reward (4+ affliction raids) obtainable at Level 600+ raids Stronger variant of the Osmumten's Fang Guarantees damage between 25% and 90% of your true max hit Gain +1 attack speed. Masori Armor The pieces for the masori set are rare purple rewards obtainable at Level 100+ raids Set effect: +3 flat range max hit in PvM This armor set can also be recolored with the Blood masori dye (level 600+ raid reward) (The blood masori set is purely cosmetic) Crest masori set This set is now the current best-in-slot PvM range armor set! It is obtained by enchanting three masori pieces with one crest root piece (respectively) Inherits both the crestroot and masori passive effects & set effects This armor set can also be dyed with the aforementioned Blood masori dye And, due to it being a crestroot set, it can be dyed by the Araxyte dye as well! Tumeken's Shadow This autocast staff is a rare purple reward obtainable at Level 300+ raids Tumeken's Shadow (i) The staff can be upgraded by combining it with a Tumeken fusion stone (4+ Affliction, Level 500+ raids) When imbued with the stone, the staff will gain +1 attack speed. It can also be dyed with the Moonlight warlock's dye (rare drop) for a cosmetic change! Masori Crossbow This crossbow is crafted by combining Masori's limbs with a Zaryte crossbow The masori limbs are a rare red reward (4+ afflictions) obtainable at Level 500+ raids Boosts range PvM damage and accuracy by +5% per masori piece equipped Special attack deals 2X Damage and inflicts bleed Inherits the effects of the Zaryte crossbow Additionally, this crossbow can be cosmetically changed the the Blood masori dye and the Araxyte dye Masori Assembler This assembler is obtained by combining an Ava's assembler with the new Masori crafting kit The masori crafting kit is a rare purple reward obtained at Level 300+ raids Elidinis' Ward This magic off-hand is obtainable as a rare purple reward obtainable at Level 200+ raids It can later be upgraded by combining the ward with the Intrinsic arcane spirit shield as well as an Ancient relic This enchantment has a 100% success rate And lastly, the shield can receive a final upgrade by combining the enchanted variant with a Menaphite ornament kit The ornament kit is a rare purple reward, obtainable in Level 500+ raids. This upgrade changes its aesthetics, and also grants it a new effect: Grants +3 flat magic damage in PvM combat ToA Ascension Pets While the standard pets for this raid (Level 400+ purples) are standard legendary pets, they can be ascended like CoX and ToB pets! Minigame Madness (Mini-Event) While you guys wait on ToA, we're delivering a new mini-event to enjoy! In this mini-event, you can earn "Minigame madness points" by simply participating in various minigames. Points are capped daily, with 500 per minigame and 5,000 overall By speaking with Lanthus at home, you can view your daily progress for each minigame (or simply type ::mme to view from everywhere) He also has a point shop, where you can buy various items including the new unique Seraphic partyhat, icon, and jad pet! This mini event will be active for 28 days. Patch Notes Verdant Treasures Dealing at least 100 damage to Verdant Titan will now grant an "unranked reward" of x1 verdant essence if you don't reach top 15. This unranked essence reward is capped at one per day (timer resets daily 9 AM CST) Being top 15 (even 8th-15th) will not consume your daily unranked reward You can now longer skip treasure events by teleporting out / logging out. Your map will now be locked to the dig event, and will persist even after teleporting home or relogging until its completed If you have (for example) a knight event and relog, the treasure spot will change but you'll still receive a knight event Beast of Shadows's (demi-boss treasure event) typeless attack is now a vorkath meteor strike with a visual queue to avoid. His defence level and hitpoints are now reduced as well. The Adventure Books RX can have a steep learning curve, and our data has shown that new players join with uncertainty on what direction to take. All of our custom systems and items can feel overwhelming to fresh eyes, especially without proper guidance. To help fix this, we've created a new system called the Adventure Books, which all new accounts are now instructed to begin when they first join. Each book is categorized by different aspects of gameplay: Book of Journeys: The quintessential tasks for your adventure, and introducing you to RX's custom systems/content Book of Arms: Tasks that require you to obtain various gears, guiding players through important upgrades Book of Minigames: Tasks that require you to reach certain milestones for RX's main minigames Book of Accolades: Generalized tasks that encourage you to hit large milestones for various content Each book has an average of 10 chapters, with each chapter progressing closer to end-game. For those of you who have been playing RX for a while, you may find yourself flying through the early chapters. However, the later chapters may bring you new goals to achieve! Utility Storage Kit This feature is unlocked in the early chapters of Book of Journeys, and provides a coffer for most skilling tools and general utilities. This coffer can be accessed directly from your spellbook! The spell is available on all spell books (modern, ancients, and lunar) Master Contact This spell allows you to directly contact various task masters from anywhere except wilderness areas! It can be unlocked at the Adventure coin shop The spell is available on all spell books (modern, ancients, and lunar) Rune Coin Alchemy Like master contact, this spell is unlocked at the Adventure coin shop It will allow you to directly alchemize items into rune coins. Wearing a ring of greed will apply the yield bonus as well Crystal Key Ring This item is obtained at the Adventure coin unlocks shop When in your inventory, it will allow you to open crystal chests with noted crystal keys or epic keys Elite Daily Tasks After fully completing the Book of Journeys, you will unlock a brand new category of daily money making tasks! These tasks have great rewards, and also provide a way to earn more Adventure coins after you complete all of the adventure books! Item Guide Revamp We've re-designed the item guide system, and introduced a lot of items that were missing before. Majority of our custom items are now within the item library (with exception of a few that we still need to add) This should pair very well with the Adventure Book side of the update, providing an additional resource for new players to seamlessly familiarize themselves with RX's custom gear The Beastiary Players will now receive a large amount of boss points for their first "discovery" of a boss (a.k.a first kill) Those of you who have already killed the bosses prior to this update will receive the retroactive set of boss points upon login. To access your beastiary either: Access the guide button/orb on your minimap (where the custom item guides are) Speak with the beast master at home Araxxor Boss (Slayer Unlock) In order to fight this new boss, you must unlock the "Creepy Crawlies" perk from the Slayer Master And yes, slayer now has a perk system! This is the only new "perk" created, and we've moved a lot of the original unlocks (that were obtained via books/scrolls) to this interface. We plan to use this feature to head in the direction of perks with actual effects/QoLs/buffs/etc. Unlike most bosses on RX, you are allowed to modify the difficulty settings before entering the instance. The harder the settings, the greater the "difficulty tier" it will be. However, you must defeat Araxxor at least once for each preceding difficulty rank before being able to proceed to the next one. Lastly, Araxxor will have better rewards & benefits depending on the difficulty rank you defeat it at. Nightwinter Event 2024 The Nightwinter event is finally here, and will last until December 30th, 2024! With this release, we've made further adjustments to the way events work (as well as their rewards) that we'd like to cove: Bond caskets and keys have returned to Tier II for the event chest! Seasonal boost scrolls will now only lift the token cap for event mob hunting (and no longer activities such as cycled events) Unique cosmetics for the event are now obtained from the fancy event box, which is available in Tier I of the event chest The global boss is still on a two-hour spawn cycle, and will remain so indefinitely (for future events) Hespori and vote bosses still drop event tokens, and will remain so indefinitely (for future events) Ironmen can no longer transfer event tokens to main accounts Upon dropping, you're prompted to destroy them instead (as an ironman) On death in the wilderness, your tokens will drop as blood money instead You can open vintage caskets with x500 mystery shards for 2X rolls Event Spotlights Along with that, there are new spotlights that will appear at different points of the event: Nov. 20th to Dec. 15th: Night mint Implings During this time, night mint implings will begin to spawn in the F2P/Wilderness world, and give bonus rewards (such as nightwinter bonus boxes, sacks of riches, etc.) Nov. 30th to Dec. 30th: Nightwinter maps Completing verdant treasure maps during this time will grant nightwinter bonus boxes! Summer's End Event RuneX's summer event is finally here! The game world has been overgrown with jungle terrain (toggle via ::summer command) and there are mischievous monkeys roaming around the F2P world and wilderness. Grab yourself a banana bomb at home and start hunting! With this year's event, we made a few adjustments from what you guys may be typically used to: Tokens are obtained at a faster rate, but the tier II portion of the chest in particular is more expensive per roll We've removed the wilderness event boss, and increased the global event boss's spawn time from 4 hours to 2 hours Note: The AFK guard will now appear to players sitting idle at the global boss lair during the off-periods This year's event pet (the Skeleton monkey) has its own unique effects, but is only obtainable via the event coin shop: Infinite run energy 10% chance to save crystal keys For those daring enough to give a shot at this year's event pet enchantment, the Sunfire monkey provides even better effects: Infinite run energy 15% chance to save crystal and teoki keys 33% chance to get teoki keys instead of crystal keys from skilling +5% drop rate bonus The enchanted / upgraded pet is very difficult to obtain, so for those of you unable to commit that heavily toward the event -- bear in mind that the Sunfire Monkey pet will be available in next year's Summer's vintage casket. With all that being said, we've decided to make some changes to make solo raids much more bearable at higher difficulty selections -- especially for Expert/Master/Grandmaster raids. Forming a team/duo will still be the most efficient way to farm raids, however these changes should at least make solos a more viable option. Hitpoints Formula Our first area of focus was to reduce raid boss sponginess specifically and only for solo raids. The HP scaling formula for Adept+ difficulty now "pads" boss HP significantly lower than before. And again, this formula change only applies for SOLO raids (the HP of bosses for parties with 2+ players will be the same as before.) Here is the before -> after data of all raid boss/monster HP: Solo Raid Mechanic QOLs Again I'd like to re-iterate, these QoLs only apply for solo raids in order to circumvent the inconveniences that come without a raid duo/group. Note from the Developers With an update of this size, we understand some of you may be wondering why we didn't split it into two or even three separate updates in order to reduce the time gap. Any other time we'd 100% agree, however it was unfortunately not that simple for us on this update. Majority of the development time on this update actually involved the reworking core code, which we'll be introing this thread with. If we would've split some of this content on a separate update (with a snapshot prior to the reworks) it would've likely had to have been recoded anyways. Instead -- during the time I spent on reworks, Nate would simultaneously implement content with new engine features as they came. This process created a positive feedback loop and eventually gave us the progress & improvements we were hoping for. In the end we feel that this time investment was well worth it, and we hope this update gives you all that same feeling! Engine Reworks As mentioned in the note above, a large highlight of this update's development involved reworking a lot of the server's core features. The end result brought immediate improvements on this update, but also a huge amount of potential for the future of both RuneX and SpawnPK. We're hoping some of the content we've been able to deliver on this update can be indicative of that. However, before getting into the content on this update, we'll share summaries of some of the critical reworks that we feel are worth mentioning: Server Core / Ticks We've made massive strides to the very core of the server's engine. A detailed explanation would likely just be a bunch of tech jargon, so to keep things simple: The server should generally feel a lot better & more responsive There's also been aggressive troubleshooting on the server's memory leaks - which is essentially what causes the server to "build up" lag after being online without a restart for too many days straight. While we don't have 100% certainty that the memory leaks have been fixed entirely, we're confident that the problem has at the very least been improved drastically. Combat System A huge portion of our combat system has been reworked. This also includes improvements that will make the development of new content much easier (especially for advanced mechanics in end-game content). In fact, a lot of the new content included on this update was made possible due to these improvements. More importantly, these reworks improve the quality of combat itself - noticeable in areas such as: Pathing / Following After this update, you may notice pathing & following behaving more properly: Destination tiles and paths to your target are now more akin to the vanilla game & should feel more proper Improvements across the board for pathing / following in combat with "large" NPCs Overlapping is now properly recognized for "large" monsters (they will step aside if you're on top of them) This also accounts for the inanimable monsters, such as totems at Nightmare A lot of other general improvements. Just give it a feel, and let us know what you think! Hits / Damage The way hits are calculated and processed has been reworked. In short, this provides a vast number of benefits (including but not limited to): Fully accurate max hit dummies Dummies should now accurately display your post-cap max hit (whereas with the old combat system it was often inaccurate) We've also added new dummy types in light of this (PvP / PvM / Slayer) You will now also guarantee your max hit when attacking dummies Max hit splats With accurate prediction of max hit potential, your hits will now display with "crit" splats (orange tint) whenever you deal max damage Keep in mind that for certain niche hits (i.e additional damage via specs or gear effects) there is no true "max hit" and may therefore have no max hit indication Improvements for development We can now (much more easily) guarantee intended mechanics of things like bosses and gear effects For example: With the old combat system, certain things would be able to bypass invulnerability states of bosses (such as the Ancient godsword spec, until we manually prevented it for certain bosses as a "band-aid" fix) As a result, this made development of content with advanced mechanics understandably difficult with our old combat system. This kind of dilemma is what people often refer to as "spaghetti" With content developed using our new engine features & core, this example issue is far less likely to occur -- allowing us to guarantee things like invulnerability mechanics. We therefore have more freedom to make new & exciting end-game content, due to having much more confidence that it will work as we intended. Some of the new content in this update (and improvements to old content) will be immediate examples of that Miscellaneous Improvements to the way hits are queued, resulting in things like Scythe of Sanguinesti actually displaying its extra hit Improvements to balancing magic combat, which you may already notice results on this release (various spells have had caps lifted/reduced) More potential in balancing PvP combat, which you may already notice results on this release Party / Instance System We now have a fully reworked system for instances and parties. Both of which are now standalone systems, but fully compatible with one another. This allows us to (with ease) create new content with group/party compatibility. An immediate example would be Raids, which will be explained in much more detail further below in this thread Content Recoding As a final note on the subject of reworks: a lot of our old/existing code has been recoded in light of these changes. But not everything. Old content that was not recoded with our new reworks/systems may not see all of its benefits. We did not want this update to take any longer than it already has, so we tried to be selective with what we recoded (and saved the rest for later). Among the largest categories of things we recoded were: most bosses, instanced content, nearly every special attack in-game, and a few other various systems. Final Note Although the development of this update involved three separate phases of testing, there is still potential for unforeseen bugs/issues (especially with an update of this size). We encourage & appreciate reports on any bug findings, and will do our best to be on top of things with necessary post-release patches Lastly, I'd like to thank the members of the community who were a part of our testing group, as well as the members of our staff team who were involved as well. Each person took time out of their day to help us guarantee a smoother release, and even provided feedback to make the update better. Raids Rework Raids have been recoded entirely, now leveraging nearly all of the new engine features mentioned above. This not only improves the raid content you know, but enriches it with new features as well. New Raids Menu Interacting with the portal will provide you with a new menu, offering easier management & joining of parties. Parties can now also be set to open, which will list them on the "Join" tab for other players to see and/or join. Unlike the previous raid system, you no longer need every party member to keep the interface open for the raid to start. Party members now simply need to click the "ready" button, and as long as they remain in the Edgeville zone the raid will begin when everyone's readied up. Although self-explanatory: don't click ready unless you're actually ready! Below is a video clip to highlight the menu's features: Raid Tomes Rework The raids menu now allows you to store your tomes (afflictions and modifiers) in a new coffer -- no longer requiring you to hold them in your inventory or store them in your bank. Purchasing tomes from the menu will now automatically store them in your coffer as well. Members of a party can also now contribute both affliction and modifier tomes inside the raid menu, with the changes having visual systems for everyone in the party to see. And with afflictions, you will be listed as a (1-5A) raid on the Join tab if your party is set to open. Below is a video clip to highlight the menu's features: The way modifier tomes behave have been reworked as well. Rather than being an effect that lasts a duration for multiple raids, activated modifiers will only last for one session (similar to afflictions) However, players who had modifier tomes in their bank etc. prior to the update will notice their amounts have increased by 7X. We applied this for pre-update tomes as compensation for the sudden change. Reconnecting to Raids Raids with multiplayer parties now also support a new re-connection feature! If a party member disconnects/crashes during a raid, they will be reconnected to the raid upon login. This feature will also preserve the points that the player had prior to disconnection. This feature will not work if the player left the raid session through other means besides disconnection, such as teleporting home. This feature also does not work for solo raids, as it would require some more delicate work from us to keep empty (no players inside) raid sessions conditionally alive. Mass Raids With raids now using our new party & instance system, it now technically supports raids of any party size. However, with that being said it also requires proper & flexible scaling for the boss stats/mechanics, and even the raid's rewards. For the time being, we've only granted access for hosting mass raids to our administrative team. The goal is to treat mass raids as a community event for now, and let each run be a "test drive" to see how things play out with 100+ players in one raid. Based on those results, we will then circle back and consider how we'd like to implement mass raids as a more accessible feature Raid Vouchers The raid money making daily will now reward you with "Mystery raid vouchers" which opens for a voucher of a random raid type. If you have a voucher (of the respective raid type) in your inventory while looting a raid chest, you will be given doubled rewards and the voucher will be consumed. In other words they're similar to luck tokens, but for raid chests. New affliction items Chambers of Xeric and Theatre of Blood have received new items in their affliction tables as well Chambers of Xeric Grand Xeric Cloak Increases damage & accuracy in CoX raids by +10% Stats of tokhaar-kal Kodai boots Increases magic damage & accuracy with wands by +10% Moonlight kodai wand (enchantment) Enchantment cost includes: Kodai shards, new Moonlight staff (via Varlamore), Imbued heart, and Cursed kodai wand Increases damage by +5% per moon or moonlight item equipped (Varlamore) Details of the Varlamore items are explained in more detail further below on the Varlamore portion of this thread Theatre of Blood Grand sinhaza shroud Increases damage & accuracy in ToB raids by +10% Stats of tokhaar-kal Justiciar armguard (or) Improved tats from the regular armguard Inherits regular armguard effect Bonus effect: Increases "holy" weapon damage and accuracy by +10% Visuals/Sounds, and Fixes With CoX and ToB being recoded entirely under the new raids system, you should notice some improvements to the animations/visuals of raids. Mechanics should also no longer have its old bugs. Sounds have also been added to majority of the attacks & mechanics for those who appreciate it. A specific example would be all three of Verzik's phases, which benefits from all of the things mentioned. As a specific example, pillars have a destruction animation, a queue sound, and no longer cause clipping/walking issue after destruction. New Raid Added! In light of this rework, Varlamore brings a brand new raid to RuneX as well: the Twilight Moons (even debuting with its very own affliction table, too!) However, we've saved the details for this further down in the thread, to tie with the topic of Varlamore! New RuneLite Features / QoLs As promised, we've continued our RuneLite integration even further with brand new plugins / QoLs for you guys! Some of these plugins also replace some of our old/outdated client features with better customization and visuals Timers / Info Boxes Our timer overlay system has been entirely enhanced with the signature "info box" system from RuneLite Not only is this far more customizable than our old overlay, you can also: By holding down your ALT key you can click & drag your overlays to any part of your screen By holding down your SHIFT key you can right-click your overlays to split them in different groups By going to the plugin settings on your side panel, you can change the size of the boxes & hide by category! This plugin also brings overlays that can act as better / more compact alternatives to our original task progress bar. For example, slayer tasks & skilling tasks (among other tasks) will now display a "counter" info box which can also be moved in the same fashion. And as a final note: info boxes can be "grouped" and "ungrouped" together based on category Trading Post Panel On your side panel's navbar, there is now a new "Trading post" icon that offers two different market plugin features. With the first tab, you can view the status of your TP listings for your actively logged in account With the other tab, you can search for any item history in the trading post on the fly! Search any item's TP history, with full records collected since March 3rd directly from your side panel! The plugin actually searches records on our new & improved database system, which doesn't involve any deletions. As a result, we actually recommended to use this plugin rather than the in-game search (as most of you may know, in-game search records do not keep record of all TP sales) Entity Hider You can now hide various entities! This should be especially useful for players who experience performance issues in populated areas (home, mass/group bosses, etc.) In conjunction to this new plugin, it will also now fully pair with the Player Outline plugin And with your local pet now being hideable you can now outline your pet too! This may come in handy for players who get distracted with their bigger pets, but still want some small degree of visual indication that they're there. Combat Overlays Some of our original settings (such as newschool / oldschool hp bars, multiplied 10X hits, etc.) have been moved to this plugin. In addition, it comes with new features such as the new "Oldschool with icons" hitsplat option. This style will display oldschool hitsplats, but also shows the hit type (magic/melee/range/cannon) like newschool You can also set the style of boss overlays to Compact style which will still display the same information (their HP, and their defence if shown) but simply hide the monster name to provide a little more space on your screen. Hover Descriptions You can now enable/disable tooltips for hovering over entities (objects and NPCs) This will of course work in conjunction with the Menu Entry Swapper plugin, displaying the selected left-click option tooltip on hover Mail System We now have a system that allows us to both globally and privately send mail to you, directly in-game! Not only does it allow us to communicate globally & directly, but it also has support for attaching claimable items! You'll start noticing us use this system for a wide variety of things, with this update including some of our first usages of it! Similar to your reward coffer, you'll see a notification on your screen when you're in a safe area and have new / unread mail. Celestial Collectibles We have a new system implemented that will be used to release collectible sets of unique limited time cosmetic items! Each collectible set can be bought at a shop, and they will always have different tiers of items: Cheaper items with higher stock More expensive items, with a slightly lower stock VERY expensive items with a very limited stock A limited amount of collection boxes, which gives a random item from the collection (scaled by rarity) These items are guaranteed discontinued and will never be sold again once released. They typically last for 3-4 weeks, and their shop stock resets every week for that duration. The shop stocks are global unlike other limited stock shops on RuneX. And for those worried about conserving bank space, no worries! The celestial guide grants you access to a special coffer, which can store items for all previous collections (and the current one, if active) Radiant Collection The radiant collection will be our first Celestial Collection on RuneX, starting with the release of this update. All accounts that login with at least 50+ achievements, who obtained those achievements before the update, will be receiving: 50-99 achievements completed before this update: 1 mystery box 100-274 achievements completed before the update: 2 mystery boxes 275+ achievements completed before the update: 3 mystery boxes You should receive the boxes in your mail upon login! Also, similar to vouchers, radiant mystery boxes can be gifted to ironman accounts by using it on them! In fact, Varlamore harbors some of the most challenging end-game content on RuneX to date. In order to begin your journey, you must complete a very quick quest via the Librarian to obtain a Basic quetzal whistle. This whistle will be your primary method (aside from teletabs and alt. teleports) to travel to Varlamore. (It can be later upgraded via Hunter's Guild rewards) Civitas Illa Fortis Within this city, you can speak with Seia the Teoki who will be your main guide in the continent. She can provide you with a glossary of guides on the activities currently within Varlamore She sells a large variety of items in exchange for Varlamore gems, which is a central currency in the continent that is obtained from nearly every activity Her shop also sells scrolls, which allow you to progress through the continent by unlocking new activities Her shop includes a weekly stock which includes more high value / rare items from the continent Lastly, all items in her main stock can be sold back to the shop for 50% of their purchase price Although not a feature exclusive to Seia, she can also: Provide access to teleports to the various activities you've unlocked Provide access to your Varlamore Storage, which is essentially a coffer that can store certain unique items obtained in the continent as a way to help you conserve bank space There are also civilians roaming the city that can be pickpocketed, as one of your first ways of obtaining Varlamore gems! This form of pickpocketing has a much more AFK friendly style by acting as an "action" that will remain until a civilian retaliates and stuns you. Additionally, "Leo" located at the center of the square will randomly start dancing to distract civilians. When distracted, civilians will not be able to stun you, and also have a chance to give extra rewards from your pickpocketting Alternatively, you can kill guards located around the perimeter of the city, who also drop Varlamore gems (or items that can be sold to the Teoki for gems) Calcified Rock Mining (Above is a screenshot from Eia the Teoki's in-game Varlamore Guide, providing a general summary of the activity) The Teomat (Above is a screenshot from Eia the Teoki's in-game Varlamore Guide, providing a general summary of the activity) Hunter's Guild (Above is a screenshot from Eia the Teoki's in-game Varlamore Guide, providing a general summary of the activity) Sulphur, Moonlight, and Sunlight Naguas (Above is a screenshot from Eia the Teoki's in-game Varlamore Guide, providing a general summary of the activity) Perilous Moons (Above is a screenshot from Eia the Teoki's in-game Varlamore Guide, providing a general summary of the activity) The mechanics for these bosses are fairly similar to the original game's, so for those unfamiliar general OSRS YouTube guides should give a good idea of how to defeat them. Primarily just for the boss fights, because our version of the minigame does not require moving between areas of the dungeon (a portal will simply spawn for you after each kill - sending you to the next moon boss upon entry) The main / only difference with our bosses mechanics is a far less time consuming ball phase on Eclipse Moon. We also keep Blood Moon's main healing mechanic tuned down, as we feel it makes the fight rather unenjoyable. At the end of the Blood Moon fight, you will be sent to a room containing a Lunar chest which will provide various valuable rewards. Its uniques include gear resembling each moon (Blue, Eclipse, and Blood) which all have their own unique set effects. Blue Moon Set Effect With the full blue moon set effect equipped (armor and weapons) you will have a 1/3 chance to deal an extra magic hit with spells, and restore your health by 25% of the damage dealt. Eclipse Moon Set Effect With the full eclipse set equipped, you will have a 1/5 chance to burn your enemies (a "damage over time" effect that is very similar to bleed). You will also deal +50% damage against targets who are burned. Blood Moon Set Effect With the full blood set equipped, you will have a 1/3 chance to attack 2 ticks faster on your next hit Twilight Moons (NEW RAID) The twilight moons is a brand new raid, essentially acting as a more challenging "end-game" variant of the Perilous Moons minigame. Within this raid, the boss mechanics are very similar to the original minigame; however mistakes against their mechanics are far more punishing, and the bosses have greater stats / different weaknesses. Each twilight boss also has a new additional special attack that will activate when they are at or below 50% HP Azure Moon (blue) Weak to ranged combat, and Immune to all other forms of damage (even typeless) When health reaches 50%, Azure Moon will summon tornadoes similar to the Blue Moon brazier phase and disappear, leaving a large brazier at the center of the room. The raid party must collect Moon shards which will randomly appear around the room and throw them in the brazier to put out the flames (an HP bar for the remaining brazier health will appear on the raid party's screen) The amount of Moon Shards required for the brazier scaled by the raid party size Phantom moon (eclipse) Weak to melee combat, and immune to all other forms of damage (even typeless) When health reaches 50%, Phantom Moon will summon a group of thralls that must be killed (an HP bar for the amount of thralls remaining will appear on the raid party's screen) While thralls are alive, Phantom Moon is invulnerable and will shoot meteors around the room on random tiles (some intentionally on or nearby players in the raid) The amount of Thralls spawned is scaled by the raid party size Crimson moon (blood) Weak to magic combat, and immune to all other forms of damage (even typeless) When health reaches 50%, Crimson Moon will summon blood orbs around himself that must be killed in a specific amount of time (an HP bar for the time remaining will appear on the raid party's screen) Every blood orb that remains alive by the end of the countdown will explode, dealing AoE damage and healing the boss for a % of his health each The hitpoints of the spawns scales by the raid party size and difficulty The unique rewards of this raid include upgraded variants of the armor from Perilous Moons. They also count (in conjunction) with the perilous moon set; so for example having Crimson Moon chest with Blood Moon helm/legs/weapon will still count as a full set. Affliction Reward Table For those feeling up to the challenge for Affliction raids, the twilight moon affliction table includes: Upgraded variants of the weapons from Perilous Moons When worn with the full upgraded armor set, you are provided with a very large PvM damage boost (Effectively making the set a strong contender for the highest/BiS tier) This damage boost is only provided if you are wearing the full set of the upgraded moon gear obtained via Twilight Raids (Gear from the non-raid Perilous Moons minigame will NOT count) Pets for each of the Twilight Moons Each pet is classified as an epic pet Each has a passive effect that greatly increase your damage for a respective combat type However, as a slight trade-off, they will also slightly reduce your accuracy with that combat type Knight's Battlegrounds The battlegrounds include some of the most challenging PvM end-game content to date. You can enter this zone after redeeming all of the unlocks in Varlamore. After reaching this milestone, speak with the Varlamore Knight Captain located on the north side of Civitas to travel to the Battlegrounds. (Below is a screenshot from Eia the Teoki's in-game Varlamore Guide, providing a general summary of the activity) Another thing to note is that the three demi-bosses have 50% protection against typeless damage (i.e ancient godsword special attack) which can also be discovered by using the new Monster Orb feature. They also have an immunity to soulsplit. Shadow Colossus (demi-boss) This is the first (and easiest) demi-boss you encounter in the zone. He has a standard attack that is primarily ranged, but has a slight chance to be magic-based (he will say "Behold the shadow!" to indicate this) He also has a special attack where he will launch a shadow spear at your tile position, requiring you to move away. Once he reaches 50% hitpoints, his attacks will become faster. Once he reaches 25% hitpoints, he will begin to launch two spears (special attack) within a 3-4 tick sequence. Like all other demi-bosses in the battleground, he has a very rewarding drop table but also includes a unique item: The shadow spear The shadow spear is a stronger, infinite ammunition variant of the Hunter's spear. Damage to non-hunter creatures with this spear is increased by 2X when Tome of shadows is equipped with it Cryophyta (demi-boss) This is the second demi-boss you'll encounter in the zone. He has a melee standard attack which can trigger if you're within distance. His other standard attack fires a flurry of magic & ranged icicles that slightly drain your strength, range, magic, and prayer. The order in which the magic/range icicles shoot is dependent on his current phase. The second phase will begin once he gets below 66% hitpoints, and the third phase will begin once he is below 33% hitpoints. For his special attack, he will stomp on the ground - and 5 ticks later, ice will rise from the ground on various random tiles between you and him. If you happen to be standing on one of those tiles, you will take damage and be frozen for 16 ticks. His unique drop is Cryophyta's essence (common) and a Cryophyta's staff (rare). Cryophyta's essence is an alternative way to obtain the rare staff, by enchanting a Bryophyta's staff with 250x essence at the enchantment chest. Sunfire Dragons (demi-boss) This is the final demi-boss you'll encounter at the zone, and the most challenging among the three. Phase 1 (at/above 75% HP): Randomized attack between ranged and dragonfire Phase 2 (below 75% HP): Randomized attack between magic and ranged Phase 3 (below 50% HP): Randomized double attack between magic and ranged Phase 4 (below 33% HP): Randomized triple attack between magic, ranged, and dragonfire Notable mentions: Sunfire dragon's special attacks will also inflict a damage over time effect to you, similar to the bleed mechanic Each phase switch will reset the sunfire dragon's defence level back to full Its unique drops are Blazing hide (stackable) and the Dragon sunfire shield Blazing hide can be used with Mixed hide pieces (crafted from the Hunter's Guild) to create Blazing d'hide armor. The amount of hide required depends on the piece you're crafting. Each piece has the same effect (shown below) but will stack with each one equipped. Moonlight Warlock (Battleground Boss) This boss is the most challenging piece of content in Varlamore, and arguably most challenging content on RuneX to date. To start, you must speak with the Captain who is located at the bottom of the mountain (nearby the Cryophyta spawns). It's worth noting that after your first 5 warlock kills, you will unlock a direct teleport to the Captain's battleground location in your "Boss teleports" Similar to Hunllef, you are required to pay a 500M kill deposit fee which you will be refunded if you kill the boss. Inversely, you will lose the deposit if you die / forfeit after starting the fight. However, unlike Hunllef, you can create / join parties of any size (either private or public). Each player must still also pay a kill deposit to join another player's party. The boss's hitpoints will scale accordingly with the size of the party Warlock Mechanics Summary Nearly all of the warlock's mechanics deal heavy damage but can be avoided with movement (aside from one particular special attack) In order to begin the fight, the party leader must click "Disturb" on the warlock. Once the fight begins, nobody can join the party, and everyone's kill deposit will "lock in" and therefore be risked until the boss is killed. It's also important to note that the warlock is weak to magic, and one of his special attacks fully requires some form of ranged combat (whether it be ranged or magic). The knight captain explains this as well on the "fight information" dialogue Soul blast (Phase 1) This is the warlock's main attack until his fourth phase. He will fire this blast toward the tile of every player in the arena, requiring you to move away and avoid taking damage. Run energy will also be drastically reduced for players who fail to avoid the blast. Floor flames (Phase 2) Once the warlock's HP is below 87.5%, he will prepare to launch an attack that engulfs the entire arena with lunar flames. The only safespots in the arena will be lines of tiles that make up a horizontal and vertical line. These lines intersect at the tile position of the boss. Failing to stand in a safe area brings heavy consequences. Fire walls (Phase 3) Once the warlock's HP is below 72.5%, he will prepare to summon two walls of fire (8 ticks apart) that will spawn from the north side of the mountain. The fire walls will slowly make their way to the other (southern) side of the mountain and despawn once they reach the edge. Until the fire walls are gone, the warlock will be invulnerable to damage Standing on a fire wall tile will cause AoE damage to you and nearby party members. There are only a few holes/pieces of the wall that are safe, which you must identify and prepare to walk through to avoid taking damage. The warlock will also begin firing his standard attack at players shortly after summoning the two fire walls, so brace yourself to avoid those as well! Doppelgangers (Phase 4) Once the warlock's HP is below 62.5%, he will prepare to pull all party members toward him. Once pulled, players will be locked into place and unable to move. The warlock will then vanish, and summon three of his doppelgangers to surround the players. All doppelgangers can be killed, however only one of them is the correct one that ends the phase. Each doppelganger will take turns shooting their own spell in a consistent rotation / rhythm. Their spells make up the combat triangle (melee, range, and magic). In order to completely avoid taking damage, players must flick their prayers in the correct rhythm. After the doppelganger phase is defeated, warlock's soul-blast (standard attack) will then be upgrade to fire double shots (2 ticks apart) until the next phase.. Raining moonfire (Phase 5) Once the warlock HP is below 50%, he will first summon another floor flame. After the floor flame attack, his standard attack upgrades to Raining Moonfire for the remainder of the fight. Much like soul blast, it will attack all players in the arena (along with two wildcard projectiles that target a random part of the arena.) However, upon impact, it will damage anyone within a 5x5 tile radius, dealing high damage and inflicting hellfire (damage over time). (NOTE: The amount of projectiles are capped to target 5 players and 2 random tiles, to prevent masses or large parties from being too unfair) Fire walls (Phase 6) Once below 37.5% HP, he will summon two more fire walls. However, this time around it will be far more difficult, because the warlock's upgraded standard attack (Raining moonfire) is harder to avoid. You will need to avoid his raining fire while simultaneously positioning yourself properly to avoid the fire wall. Doppelgangers (Phase 7) The warlock will summon another set of doppelgangers once he's below 22.5% HP. After this phase is defeated, he will continue using his standard attack for the remainder of the fight Warlock Rewards This boss comes with multiple (powerful) unique items Moonlight faceguard Increases damage dealt in Varlamore PvM by +15%, and counts for sunfire squire, Xerician, and fanatic set effects. Mask of ranul Increases damage dealt in Varlamore PvM by +10% Moonlight cape Increases magic max hit by +5 when a Moonlight weapon is equipped Moonlight staff Damage increases by +5% for each Moonlight or Perilous Moon item equipped. Powerful auto cast attack, with visual's similar to the warlocks soulblast attack. Powerful special attack, making this one of the most powerful single target magic weapons on RuneX (or the most with moonlight bonus effects.) As mentioned earlier in the Raids section of this thread, the moonlight staff can also be used to enchant the Moonlight Kodai Wand Ancrestral dye (moon) Dyes ancrestral (crest upgrade of ancestral) pieces and counts them as "Moon" items for the moon effects/bonuses mentioned above Moonlight chest Gives a random rare moonlight item that is exclusively obtained from this chest Moonlight pendant: Attacks have a 1/5 chance to give a super stat boost to strength/magic/ranged Moonlight ring: Increases max hit by +4 damage dealt while in Varlamore Moonlight boots: High bonus boots (counts as a moon item for bonus effects) Moonlight gauntlets: High bonus gloves (counts as a moon item for bonus effects) Look ahead: Varlamore Part II All of the content above is only part one of the Varlamore expansion.
